Our Owl Talk on Friday 18th October was a great evening. Chrissie from Chrissie's Owls explained how her group are committed to the care & conservation of owls. They provide an owl rescue services for injured wild owls, and also for captive bred owls that for one reason or another need caring for and rehoming.
There are five species of owl that are native to Britain, the Tawny Owl, Barn Owl, Little Owl, Long and Short-Eared Owls. The most common is the Tawny Owl, which you are more likely to hear than see. It is nocturnal and lives in wooded areas. The Barn Owl is the most loved of our Owls, recognised by it's heart shaped face and beautiful plumage. Chirissie brought 2 Owls with her to the talk - a Tawny and a Barn. It was amazing to see these 2 birds "up close" and hear about their lives with Chrissie.
If you ever need help or advice about an Owl you have found, Chrissie's Owls can be contacted on: 01993 891618 or 07815 130 578
